founded by walter Gropius in 1919 in Weimar, Germany
architecture dept opened in 1927
1929 photography dept opened
closed in 1933 for good due to the Nazi's acclaiming them to be communists
political pressure and constant scrutiny by Nazi's cast a shadow over the school
lasted for 14 years

began teaching glass workshop at Bauhaus in 1923
moved to Dessau in 1925 with Bauhaus and then to Berlin
Oskar Schlemmer
1921 became master at Bauhaus in Weimar
directed wall painting dept & stone sculpture workshop & life drawing
head of stage workshop from 1923 - 1929 (Weimar & Dessau)
left Bauhaus july 1929
